Course Description

ENG-131A is the first college-level composition course in a two-semester sequence. Students will be introduced to writing, reading, critical thinking, and using information at the college level. In particular, the course will help students develop writing that reveals rhetorical and academic flexibility.

Course Pre-requisite(s)

Students place into course through multiple-measures assessment as determined by English Department guidelines. Students who were required to take developmental coursework before course may also enroll in course by passing EN081 and EN093 with a grade of S, 090A with a grade of S, or 082 and 092 with a C or better. Students may appeal placement by scheduling an appointment with the Writing Center for an impromptu, final writing placement assessment.
