Course Description

ENG-131 is the first college-level composition course in a two-semester sequence. Students will be introduced to writing, reading, critical thinking, and using information at the college level. In particular, the course will help students develop writing that reveals rhetorical and academic flexibility.

Course Pre-requisite(s)

Students place into coursethrough multiple-measures assessment as determined by English Department guidelines. Students who were required to take developmental coursework before course may also enroll in 131 by passing course with a grade of S; 094 with a grade of S; or course and course with a C or better. Students may appeal placement by scheduling an appointment with the Writing Center for an impromptu, final writing placement assessment.
